Pennwood Aged Care Services is a not-for-profit organisation and is owned and operated by The Serbian Community Welfare Association of South Australia Inc (SCWASA).
Pennwood Aged Care is the only aged care provider in South Australia that caters specifically to people of Serbian background. With delicious European meals cooked on site, staff who speak the language and multicultural television channels available in every room, we pride ourselves on being South Australia’s leading culturally specific aged care provider.
Our services are not limited to people from a Serbian background. People from all backgrounds, religions and cultures are welcome at Pennwood.

Pennington Aged Care Village was built in May 1993 and housed 40 residents offering mainly low-level government funded care.
Aged Care Village was re-branded Pennwood Village in 2010
In 2011 a new wing was opened, bringing our service to a total of 60 residential aged care places
In December 2013 Pennwood was granted approval to provide Support at home to 35 older people in the western suburbs and Pennwood Support at Home was born
In 2019, Pennwood Village expanded yet again with the addition of two new houses, bringing us to our current total of 80 beds. The 2 new houses are used to provide the Transitional Care Programme (TCP) in partnership with SA Health
Older people are now receiving support at home services via Pennwood Support at Home
Pennwood proudly acquired and integrated Pennwood Aged Care Services at Kings Park, a 38-bed facility specializing in reablement and transitional care. This strategic addition enhances our capacity to support SA Health's TCP, relieving pressure on hospitals and providing a dedicated pathway for seniors to regain independence in a vibrant, community-focused setting.
Pennwood proudly acquired and integrated a boutique 32-bed Residential Care facility in the iconic McLaren Vale region. This exciting expansion allows us to extend our specialized care models to the southern community, offering a warm, inviting, and premium environment for seniors. Our McLaren Vale site ensures more families have access to the dedicated, respectful, and high-quality care Pennwood is known for.
Pennwood aged care services strives to achieve excellence in culturally sensitive quality aged care and is committed to providing high quality individualised services addressing cultural, spiritual and linguistic needs.
Pennwood Aged Care Services is governed by a Board of Directors composed of caring members of the South Australian community, bringing diverse experience in life, industry, clinical expertise, and aged care. The Board of Directors works in conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer to oversee all operations of Pennwood Aged Care services, ensuring the organisation maintains its high-quality standards, delivers safe and person-centred care, and meets all regulatory and compliance requirements.
Qualified nursing staff are present 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing safe, high quality, and person-centred care for all residents and clients of Pennwood residental services. Our dedicated clinical team includes Allied health professionals and Registered and Enrolled Nurses, supported by compassionate Personal Care Workers who hold a minimum of Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent qualifications.
At Pennwood Aged Care, we are committed to employing and developing staff in sufficient numbers and with the skills, qualifications, and knowledge needed to deliver the highest standard of care. Our team members are selected not only for their expertise, but also for their ability to communicate effectively, build positive relationships, and uphold our values of dignity, respect, and person-centred care.
We strongly encourage ongoing professional growth and education, and we're proud to have supported many of our staff to advance their careers and become Enrolled or Registered Nurses.
Our Chief Executive Officer, supported by the Board of Directors, leads a large, multidisciplinary team of caring clinical and non-clinical professional. Together, we continue to strengthen Pennwood Aged Care Service's reputation for excellence and maintain our commitment to providing the best possible care to every resident and client in our community.
